Founders, executives and brands assessing AI visibility
How can your brand become easier to find in Google and AI search?
Make your public information accessible, accurate and useful for the questions customers ask. Search and AI visibility depend on both the pages you publish and the evidence available elsewhere. You can improve those foundations and measure changes; you cannot buy a guaranteed organic recommendation from ChatGPT or Google.
Is AI visibility different from SEO?
SEO helps search engines discover and understand relevant pages. AI visibility work also examines how answer systems describe your brand and which sources they cite. AEO and GEO are common labels for this work. For Google, the foundations remain SEO: useful original information, crawlable pages, internal links and a good experience.
A founder needs both. Someone may ask an AI assistant for an agency shortlist, then search your name and read your case studies before making contact. Measure each step instead of treating an AI mention as a sale.
What should an AI visibility audit include?
Begin with questions that reflect a real buying decision. Include searches for your name, your service and the problem you solve. Keep the date, wording, market, platform, answer and cited URLs so later checks can be compared. Separate a brand mention from a citation that actually links to your site.
- Indexing, canonical URLs, sitemap and crawler access
- Accurate founder and company facts across public profiles
- Buyer questions your service pages currently leave unanswered
- Relevant case studies and attributable third-party evidence
- Baseline answers, cited sources, referral visits and qualified enquiries
Do you need to submit the website to ChatGPT?
OpenAI documents OAI-SearchBot as its search crawler. Allowing it in robots.txt and checking that hosting security permits legitimate requests supports discovery. GPTBot is a separate crawler associated with model training; its setting is not a shortcut to search placement.
There is no universal registration that puts a site into every AI answer. Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools help diagnose search discovery. Bing's AI Performance report covers supported Microsoft and partner surfaces, not all AI assistants. An llms.txt summary can be a convenient reference, but Google does not require one for its AI search features.
What if AI gets your company wrong?
Find the claim and, where possible, the source behind it. Correct your own pages and biographies first, with consistent names, dates, roles and links. If an external publisher has a factual error, use its correction process with evidence. Use the AI platform's feedback mechanism where appropriate.
Publishing more pages is not a substitute for resolving contradictory facts. An agency should explain what it can edit, what it can request and what remains outside its control. Changes to a source do not guarantee an immediate change in every model's response.
How do you judge whether the work is helping?
Track non-branded search impressions and clicks to service pages, relevant AI referrals and enquiries that fit the business. Review a consistent set of buyer questions and preserve the answers and citations. AI responses vary, so one screenshot is not a reliable visibility trend.
FAME combines public-profile work, PR, website content and AI-answer reviews. Ask for a baseline, an agreed scope and a reporting cadence. The deliverable should explain what changed and what evidence supports the result, without promising rankings or platform recommendations.
